A Smooth Journey Back to Islamabad

For the first time in a week, I had a completely smooth drive with no landslides, no storms, and no unexpected adventures—just peaceful roads and breathtaking scenery.

As I left Tao Bat, I couldn't help but feel a little emotional. This road trip had been one of the most thrilling experiences of my life. I had driven through majestic mountains, explored hidden valleys, and met some of the kindest people ever.

Memorable Moments from the Last Seven Days

Looking back, here are some of the most unforgettable highlights of my journey:

  • Day 2: The unexpected rainstorm in Murree made the hills look even more magical.
  • Day 3: Stumbling upon a hidden waterfall in the Kaghan Valley—it felt like a secret paradise.
  • Day 4: Accidentally joining a local wedding in Muzaffarabad and dancing with strangers.
  • Day 5: Feeling like I had stepped into another world in the untouched beauty of the Neelum Valley.
  • Day 6: Surviving a scary landslide while heading to Tao Bat—an adrenaline-filled experience.
  • Day 7: Coming face to face with a Himalayan brown bear in the forests of Tao Bat.

Pakistani Hospitality: A Heartwarming Experience

If there’s one thing I will never forget about Pakistan, it’s the warmth and generosity of the people. Everywhere I went, I was welcomed with open arms.

Locals invited me for tea, helped me when I was stuck, and even shared their traditions with me. Despite being a foreigner, I always felt safe and at home.

Delicious Pakistani Dishes I Tried

Pakistani cuisine was a delightful surprise, Here are some of my favorites:

  • Chicken Karahi: A spicy, flavorful dish cooked in a traditional wok.
  • Kashmiri Chai: A pink, creamy tea that I enjoyed on cold evenings.
  • Chapli Kebab: A juicy, spiced meat patty famous in northern Pakistan.
  • Roghni Naan: Soft, buttery bread that paired perfectly with any curry.
  • Balti Gosht: A rich meat dish from the mountainous regions of Pakistan.

Best Places for Newlywed Couples

Pakistan is a dream destination for couples looking for adventure and romance. Here are my top recommendations:

  • Neelum Valley: Peaceful, scenic, and full of hidden spots for a romantic getaway.
  • Malam Jabba: A winter wonderland perfect for couples who love skiing and cozy resorts.
  • Hunza Valley: Breathtaking landscapes, luxury hotels, and a magical atmosphere.
  • Fairy Meadows: A picture-perfect spot with a stunning view of Nanga Parbat.
  • Shogran: A quiet hill station surrounded by forests and lush green meadows.

Tips and Tricks for Future Travelers

Planning a road trip to northern Pakistan? Here are some tips to help you:

  • Check the weather: Conditions in the mountains change quickly, so stay updated.
  • Carry extra fuel: Petrol stations are rare in remote areas.
  • Hire a local guide: Especially useful for first-time travelers exploring off-the-beaten-path locations.
  • Respect local customs: Dress modestly and always ask before taking photos of people.
  • Keep cash with you: Many villages don’t have ATMs or card payment options.

Back to the UK: A Heart Full of Memories

After an emotional goodbye to Pakistan, I boarded my flight back to the UK. As I sat by the window, looking at the beautiful mountains for one last time, I knew I would return someday.

When I finally reached home and unpacked, I found a small souvenir—a handwoven bracelet given to me by a child in Tao Bat. It brought back all the memories of my adventure.

This road trip changed me in ways I never expected. It was a journey of self-discovery, adventure, and connection. Pakistan, you will always have a special place in my heart.

Would I Recommend Pakistan as a Travel Destination?

Without a doubt, YES

From its natural beauty to its kind-hearted people, Pakistan is an extraordinary country that deserves more recognition as a top travel destination.
