A Chilly Morning in Murree
The morning air in Murree was crisp and refreshing. I stepped onto my balcony, wrapped in a cozy shawl, and admired the mist-covered mountains. It was the perfect start to another adventure-filled day.
After a warm breakfast of parathas and chai, I packed my bags and prepared to leave for Kohala, a scenic town on the way to the Kaghan Valley.
Starting the Journey to Kohala
By 9 AM, I was on the road, winding down the picturesque hills of Murree. The drive was mesmerizing, with tall pine trees lining the roads and occasional glimpses of small villages nestled in the valleys.
Excited for what lay ahead, I played my favorite travel playlist and enjoyed the cool mountain breeze through my open window.
A Surprise Stop at a Hidden Waterfall
Halfway through the journey, I spotted a small wooden sign pointing towards a “Secret Waterfall.” Curiosity got the better of me, so I took a detour.
After a short walk through dense forest, I reached a stunning sight—a secluded waterfall cascading down moss-covered rocks, its crystal-clear water sparkling in the sunlight. It was peaceful, untouched by crowds.
I sat by the water, dipped my hands in the cool stream, and simply enjoyed the serenity. It was one of those magical travel moments that stay with you forever.
The Landslide That Nearly Ended My Trip
As I continued my journey towards Kohala, the road became narrower and steeper. Suddenly, I noticed rocks tumbling down from the hillside ahead.
A landslide
Before I could react, a large rock crashed onto the road just meters away from my car. My hands tightened on the steering wheel as I quickly hit the brakes.
For a moment, everything seemed frozen. My heart pounded as I realized my SUV was dangerously close to the edge of a steep ditch. One wrong move, and my trip could have ended right there.
Luckily, some local villagers arrived and helped clear a safe path. Their kindness and quick thinking saved the day! With my heart still racing, I carefully drove past the debris and continued towards Kohala.
Reaching Kohala: A Place of Peace
After the terrifying landslide experience, I finally reached Kohala, a peaceful town by the Jhelum River.
Exhausted but relieved, I sat by the riverbank, watching the gentle waves flow past the lush green hills. It was the perfect place to calm my nerves and reflect on the eventful day.
As the sun set, I checked into a small riverside guesthouse. The sound of the flowing river outside my window was soothing, and before long, I drifted off to sleep, ready for the next chapter of my journey.
What’s Next? A Storm is Coming
Tomorrow, I continue my adventure to Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir. But what I didn’t know was that I would be facing one of the heaviest storms of my life
